WHY MAGGIE ONLY ?

Mid night food of engineering students and also 2 minutes noodle of small children “Maggie” have been banned in several states of India and also testing of this food item is going on in some states. What exactly happened to Maggie? Just few days ago laboratory test of Maggie was done in Uttar Pradesh and the proportion of lead was found on large scale in it, which is injurious to health and that is y it is banned. But have we ever thought how many products which are injurious to health have been banned by our government. And do really government think of health of people? If so, then why Vicks has not been banned by government up to now?  I think they should check, monitor and keep records of all the products produced or sold in India. Strict actions should be taken against the industries which fail to fulfill the necessity of quality.
Coming to the topic let us conclude why Maggie is only banned. As Maggie is found to be poisonous then what about the items listed below?-
PAN MASALA AND GUTKHAS - These products are much more injurious to health. The steps should be taken to stop their production. Consumption of these products has lead to mouth cancer of millions of people. Maharashtra government took the initiative to ban but still all over Maharashtra pan masala and gutkhas are being sold illegally. Their prices are high but still their consumption rate has not been reduced. So, strict laws should be made against sellers of banned products.
ROAD SIDE FAST FOOD - There are several stalls available near roadside selling fast foods. The food is unhygienic. Consumption of this food can also lead to various health problems. These stalls should be banned or monitored and inspected by government officials.
BIDI AND CIGARETTES – These items are carcinogenic to health and should also be banned. Various people have been suffered from lung cancers and every year millions of new cases are being registered.
ALCOHOL- Alcohol contributes in revenue collection on large scale. But the truth is that every year millions of people die due to consumption of alcohol. Hence, some steps should be taken to ban alcohol in India. Though there is banned on production of alcohol without governments permission but still illegal production is going on. This low quality, illegally produced alcohol contributes in high deaths.
COLD DRINKS AND BEVERAGES – There are several toxic and cancer causing ingredients in soft drinks. The artificial colors are used to provide different color to soft drink to make it attractive. So, these products should be banned and fruit juice consumption should be increased.
Nestle is world’s leading nutrition, health and wellness company. It is a Swiss company which has launched many products in India. But now it’s one of the product, Maggie has been banned in several stated of India. And now India has also started taking strict decisions against foreign companies and encouraging its own companies. Last year in May Europe banned Indian Alfonzo mango and also 4 vegetables along with it. USA also banned Ranbaxy’s drug in their country. Ranbaxy is also an Indian country. But unfortunately there are more than 20 products which are banned in other nations but not in India. Many countries have banned Vicks but in India it is still produced and sold. From all this incidents we can conclude the products in the market will be permitted on the basis of their quality and they could be banned in their quality is found to be reduced. Also now companies will have to take care about their production and people’s health. India should take actions against some products which are needed to be banned. As India is developing country there is difference in quality of product of same company in India and developed nation. So, some focus should also be given on quality and price of food products.
